I also wanted to log: Today is 1/11/23, the day before the due date of the assignment above. The class was given a week to complete it in class, and yesterday was the last day to do so. Since I finished within the first two days, I completed an extra credit assignment yesterday in class. However, today my teacher thanked me for being the only one who completed it, and did an "amazing job" at it too. For the rest of the period, she allowed me to help with greenhouse collection and matenience. My tasks were as follows:

  • Harvesting, washing and packing parsley for the market (I also recived one to keep).
  • Cleaning, moving and replanting in empty pots.
  • Creating a natural pesticide with neem oil (and spraying it onto the plants)
  • moving plant buds into new soil
  • cleaning the tools and space

Sewing Project

using a sewing machine and skills from frontstitch, backstich and pivot, I created a quilt about the side of my legs with recycled cloth. In addition, being a quick learner grated me the privilage to help teach my classmates the next step, what to do, and how to fix the sewing machines. Finally, I was done with the first quilt quickly, I was able to create a second, more intricate larger one. My quilts were donated to an animal shelter, which connects to my Quality of Life project!

Programming Knowlege

Coding

Taking 4 years of sep in highschool, Going from knowing nothing to coding projects (including this website), learning how to code has given me new skills and opportunities. For example, coding has taught me to pay attention to the smaller details, and not just the whole picture. Most importantly, this class taught me how to learn. Skills such as effective googling, teaching yourself, learning from errors and to put trust into my work.

My growth in both knowlege and persiverence in this class has been more than I can describe. Senior year, volenteerng to help teach and mentor the underclassmen SEP11 class durring my lunch (1-2x a week, as well as giving feedback to lesson plans), and being called a "poster child for never giving up" from my teacher; helping both myself and others understand code has been such a wonderful experience. At the end of the year, I Received a personalized award for my progress (picked and dedicated by my teacher), 24 kids selected out of the cohort. I was also selected to represent the program and present it to the underclassmen and incoming students and be a returning alumni to be involved in the program after graduation.
